At the end of the day, we’re all neighbors, lucky to call this incredible place home. I’d be honored to serve Grand Haven and everyone in it with a practical, forward-thinking approach, while protecting what makes this town so special. I believe progress sometimes needs fresh eyes as well as honest conversations—listening with understanding, speaking with respect, and engaging even when it’s tough.
WHAT'S IMPORTANT TO YOU?
Hello, Neighbors!
My husband Larry and I have proudly called Grand Haven home for nearly 25 years. As I run for City Council, I’m eager to hear your concerns, ideas, and hopes for our town. This isn’t just about my campaign—it’s about working together to shape Grand Haven’s future.
Thank you, Sarah
PRIORITIES
Vision and Smart Solutions
Grand Haven deserves leadership that honors our traditions while preparing for the future. Fresh eyes bring new ideas and energy, helping us move beyond “the way it’s always been done” toward solutions that support our local businesses, strengthen our economy, and balance the needs of residents and visitors. Grand Haven is a uniquely beautiful community, and I’m proud to be part of it. Change is inevitable, but by understanding our city’s assets and creating a shared vision, we can make thoughtful, lasting progress instead of just reacting to every challenge.
Responsible Fiscal Planning
Being smart with our city’s money is essential. We need to make sure services are strong, infrastructure is maintained, and past obligations—including unfunded pensions and prior infrastructure debt—are responsibly managed. Grand Haven deserves leaders who can tackle problems thoughtfully, plan for the long term, and ensure taxes are used wisely, so our services stay strong and future generations aren’t burdened.
Environmental Stewardship
Protecting our natural resources is something we all rely on. Lake Michigan, our coastline, and our green spaces aren’t just beautiful—they’re vital to our health, our economy, and our community identity. By caring for our ecosystems and preserving what makes Grand Haven so special, we can keep our city healthy and resilient for today and for generations to come.
Economic Prosperity & Vibrant Neighborhoods
A thriving Grand Haven depends on strong neighborhoods, affordable housing, and an economy that works for everyone. The people who serve, work, and live here—including teachers, first responders, service workers, young professionals, families, and longtime residents—should be able to call this city home. Supporting local businesses, creating year-round opportunities, and attracting and keeping new businesses helps make Grand Haven a place where people and companies want to invest. Housing programs and neighborhood revitalization will keep our communities vibrant, resilient, and inclusive.
Collaborative Leadership and Community Engagement
Good leadership starts with listening. I’ll ask questions, work across differences, and involve residents in the decisions that affect them. Our city relies on volunteers, and people are more likely to step up when leadership fosters collaboration and action instead of division. As a City Council member, I’ll find common ground, work with other leaders, and inspire residents to engage through committees, events, and local initiatives—so together we can build a stronger, more connected Grand Haven.
